People will tell you your vote doesn’t matter. Don’t believe it.

Election Day is November 3, and civil government answers to the people only when they show up. https://elections.delaware.gov/elections/votinglocations.html

History says your vote matters.

The men who signed the Declaration of Independence didn’t sign a theory. They pledged their “lives, fortunes, and sacred honor” to the idea that government should not rule over people without their consent.

In Delaware's Kent County, this year’s primary election saw one district won by only 7 votes.

This legislative session, several bills passed or failed on a single vote.

That idea shaped the American system. The Constitution begins with “We the People” for a reason. Authority in our republic flows from citizens, not kings, courts, agencies, or political insiders.

That system breaks down when good people stay home.

A single ballot is small, but self-government depends on it.

Scripture calls believers to stewardship.

Christians don’t get to treat government like a spectator sport.

Romans 13 teaches that civil authority has a real role in restraining evil and rewarding good. First Timothy 2 calls believers to pray for rulers and all in authority. Jeremiah 29 told God’s people to seek the welfare of the city where they lived.

Voting is one practical way to do that.

It’s not the whole calling. It doesn’t replace prayer, church, family, work, charity, or sharing the gospel. But it is a real duty in a country where citizens have a voice.

Stewardship means using what God has placed in your hands. In America, that includes a vote.

Faithful citizenship begins close to home.

Close races are decided by the people who show up to vote.

Local elections often hinge on small margins. School boards, judges, sheriffs, city councils, ballot measures, and state legislatures affect real life fast.

They shape:

  • What children are taught

  • How laws are enforced

  • Whether religious liberty is protected

  • How taxes are spent

  • Which judges interpret the law

Skipping those races hands the decision to someone else.

Your vote matters because self-government requires citizens. For Christians, it also matters because stewardship requires faithfulness.

Show up. Vote wisely. Then keep praying and serving.
